A woman was hospitalized after she was assaulted in Griffith Park early Wednesday, making her the second female victim of an attack at the popular hiking destination this month. The attacker remains at large.

The incident began shortly before 6:40 a.m. as an attempted robbery and turned into a physical altercation near Fern Dell Drive and Los Feliz Boulevard, Los Angeles police Officer Wendy Reyes told KTLA-TV.

The woman was taken to a hospital after officers arrived at the scene. The extent of the woman’s injuries was not immediately known.

Police did not have a description of the male attacker, so it was unclear if it was related to an attempted sexual assault on a woman on May 14 at the park. In that incident, a man tried to grab a woman while she was hiking on a trail but she was able to fight him off.

The woman was not injured but was taken to a hospital to be checked out, police said.

The suspect in that attack was described as Latino, between 30 and 35 years old with a thin mustache, brown hair and light skin. He stands about 5 feet, 7 inches and weighs about 150 pounds. Police later released a composite sketch of the man to help generate leads.
