A small aircraft made an emergency landing Monday along the southbound 23 Freeway in Ventura County, authorities said.

The two-seat plane landed shortly after 4:30 p.m. in the lanes near Tierra Rejada Road, near Moorpark, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Vehicles had to swerve to avoid hitting the plane, according to the CHP.

Two people were on board the plane, according to a spokesman for the Federal Aviation Administration. No injuries were reported, said Capt. Mike Lindberry of the Ventura County Fire Department.
