Pursuit, hours-long standoff end peacefully in South L.A.
A report of domestic violence led to a short police pursuit and an hours-long standoff that eventually ended without incident in South Los Angeles, authorities said Monday.
Los Angeles Police Department officers tried to stop a vehicle about 11:30 a.m. Monday after receiving a report of a domestic violence and assault with a deadly weapon.
The driver refused to stop and led police on a brief pursuit; the vehicle crashed into a van at East 60th Street and Holmes Avenue in the Florence-Firestone area of South L.A.
Video of the standoff on local news stations showed LAPD SWAT officers and armored vehicles surrounding the car. Two suspects were eventually taken into custody, although one of the occupants of the vehicle was pulled out after suffering unspecified injuries.
Weapons also were recovered, the LAPD said.
