Corvette driver dies in street race with Mercedes in San Diego
An illegal street race near SeaWorld in San Diego resulted in the death of one of the drivers after he lost control of his Corvette, police said.
The 27-year-old man lost control of his sports car Sunday night as it approached 100 mph and struck a palm tree in the center divider, police said.
The black Mercedes-Benz he was racing fled the scene and its driver is being sought by police.
A 28-year-old woman who was also in the silver Corvette was taken to the hospital with minor injuries, police said.
