Boy, 14, wanted for attempted murder, torture of elderly woman

The Hemet Police Department is asking for the public’s help to find a 14-year-old boy wanted in connection with the attempted murder and torture of an elderly woman at a retirement home.

When officers responded to a reported burglary and assault at The Camelot, a senior living community at 800 W. Oakland Ave., about 3:11 a.m. April 17, they found an 87-year-old woman who had been brutally beaten, police said in a statement.

Physical evidence linked two teenagers to the crime. Investigators later arrested a 15-year-old boy in connection with the case. The boy was booked into Southwest Juvenile Hall.

Investigators later identified the second suspect but have been unable to locate him. They released his name and picture Thursday in an effort to find him.

The department said in the statement it “normally does not release the names and photographs of juvenile suspects, but due to the serious nature of the case, an exception was made in an effort to protect the public and aid in the capture” of the [boy].”

Police identified the teen as Raymond Michael Miranda, described as Latino, about 5 feet and 110 pounds. Authorities said there is a warrant out for his arrest. They believe he is a transient and has been seen in the Hemet and San Jacinto areas.
