Ex-Detroit Lions receiver Titus Young arrested in battery case

Former Detroit lions receiver Titus Young has been arrested on suspicion of felony battery, law enforcement authorities said Monday evening.

Young was taken into custody on July 8 after he got into a “physical altercation” with another man in the 12000 block of South Wilmington Boulevard in the Willowbrook area, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department said.

The 24-year-old Young was being held a the Twin Towers county jail in downtown Los Angeles in lieu of $105,000 bail, according to online booking records.

A Los Angeles resident, Young was a standout at Boise State University and was drafted by the Lions in 2011. He was released by the team in 2013 after experiencing behavioral problems and being placed on injured reserve with a bad knee.

In May 2013, Young was arrested in Riverside County on suspicion of driving under the influence and then was arrested again about 14 hours later after he allegedly jumped a fence at a tow yard to retrieve his impounded Ford Mustang, county law enforcement authorities said at the time.
