UC Riverside student pleads not guilty in plot to kill ex-boyfriend
A 21-year-old college student at UC Riverside was in custody after pleading not guilty to trying to get her current boyfriend to kill her ex-boyfriend.
According to the Press-Enterprise, Barbara Wu was charged in May with soliciting murder, making terrorist threats, vandalism, stalking and other crimes.
She pleaded not guilty at a hearing Tuesday.
Wu’s current boyfriend got a restraining order against her, two days after she allegedly asked him to kill her former lover.
In the court document, Dennis Lin wrote Wu wanted him to break the man’s legs with a baseball bat, kill him and discard the body.
At the request of school police, Lin recorded a conversation with Wu allegedly discussing the plot.
“Passions and emotions are a scary thing,” Wu tweeted just before her arrest.
Wu was being held on $500,000 bail. She was ordered back to court July 9 for a felony settlement conference.
