Robbery suspects flee Westminster store after possibly being shot at

Police said two robbery suspects fled a Westminster jewelry store Thursday after smashing display cases and possibly being shot at by an employee.

Wearing ski masks and hoodies, the pair entered Tick Tock Watches in the 9200 block of Bolsa Avenue about 12:30 p.m., said Westminster Officer Rachel Archambault. After smashing some display cases, the two men got into a confrontation with a store employee.

Archambault said it was not known whether the employee shot at the men or if they shot at the worker.

“We do know shots were fired,” Archambault said.

The suspects fled in a 1999 dark gray Chevrolet van that was stolen in Inglewood, Archambault said. They abandoned the van near Bishop Place and Morgan Street and drove off in a light gray minivan.

No suspects have been arrested, Archambault said. Authorities believe the men got away with some watches but did not know how many.

It was unknown if the suspects were hit by bullets, Archambault said.

In 2012, two suspects were injured in an attempted robbery at Tick Tock Watches. One of the suspects was shot in the head by a store owner and another was hospitalized.
