Woman arrested on suspicion of tossing hot oil on sleeping couple

A 25-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of throwing hot cooking oil on two people while they slept, Fontana police said Tuesday.

The victims were a 42-year-old man and 26-year-old woman, both of whom received second- and third- degree burns, according to the Fontana Police Department.

The woman was burned over 17% of her body, including her face and neck, police said. The man received burns to the upper right side of his body.

Police said the victims drove themselves to the Arrowhead Regional Medical Center in Colton early Monday. They told investigators that the oil was thrown on them while they were sleeping. Police did not release a motive for the attack.

Police arrested Chrystal Dunn on Monday evening on suspicion of aggravated mayhem.

Dunn, who lives in Macon, Ga, was taken into custody without incident and was being held at the West Valley Detention Center in Etiwanda in lieu of $100,000 bail, according to police and online booking records.
