Hundreds of people gather to participate in a paddle out and memorial for Mason Zisette at Manhattan Beach on Friday morning. Zisette, a 16-year-old Manhattan Beach resident, died Saturday, two days after he hit a bridge on the 405 freeway in Inglewood while standing on the top section of a double-decker Star Line Tours bus.

As friends and family lined a long stretch of sand at the water’s edge, Katherine Zisette, 10, the sister of Mason Zisette, carried flowers into the surf in honor of her brother. Mourners held hands, crying and hugging as a huge ring of surfers floated just offshore in remembrance of Mason.
