Chilling video shows San Bernardino shooter firing weapons two days before terrorist attack
A newly released video shows one of the San Bernardino terrorists firing guns at a shooting range two days before the attack that killed 14 people a year ago.
The video, obtained by ABC News, shows Syed Rizwan Farook firing weapons at an undisclosed shooting range.
The owner of one gun range told The Times last year that Farook fired military style weapons there, describing him as a “normal guy.”
Officials at Riverside Magnum Range said they had turned over surveillance footage and sign-in logs to the FBI.
Farook and his wife, Tashfeen Malik, opened fire at a holiday party at the Inland Regional Center in San Bernardino last year, killing 14 colleagues who worked with Farook at the San Bernardino Health Department.
Farook left his Redlands home at 8:37 a.m. on Dec. 2 and arrived at the Inland Regional Center 10 minutes later. His co-workers were gathered for a holiday event and training session there.
He carried with him a bag containing a bomb, authorities say. He stuck around the center for about two hours before leaving. He returned to the event at 10:56 a.m. with his wife. They were armed with AR-15s and their faces were covered. They sprayed the room with bullets before fleeing. They left behind an explosive device made of several pipe bombs.
The couple were killed a few hours later after a wild chase with police through the streets of San Bernardino.
A year later, the FBI said it is still trying to determine whether anyone was aware of the couple’s plot or helped them in any way. From the beginning, agents have tried to figure out whether others might have known something about the couple’s plans, since Farook and Malik spent months gathering an arsenal of weapons and building bombs in the garage of their Redlands home.
