Reader Photo: Death Valley mirage
Joseph Voves captured this photo on a day trip from Los Angeles to Death Valley with his wife.
Voves said that as the sun was setting, he noticed the evolving contrast on the sky, mountains and land, and how the salt bed lit up to look like a lake of water. He said he pulled the car over to take a series of photos and later stitched them together to create this panorama.
He used a Canon PowerShot S90 to make the photo.
