Reader Photo: Red dress

In his years practicing photography, David Patrick Valera has grown to know every curve of the Disney Concert Hall, frequently traversing the building to capture unique images from the light that bounces off its walls.

Last winter, while walking through a narrow passage in the hall, he encountered some photographers and models who were wrapping up a fashion shoot. Just as one of the models was leaving, he snapped a photo of her trailing dress.

“Even though there were staged moments, I wait for the least obvious candid moment, which makes for a more interesting picture,” he said.

Valera made the image using a Sony A7s with a 1958 35mm Leica Summicron V1 adapted with a Voigtlander VM-E on Dec. 13, 2014.
