Alfred Wertheimer, whose photographs of Elvis Presley documented the singer on the cusp of worldwide fame, has died in New York. He was 85.

Most of the time, Elvis never even knew I took his picture,” Alfred Wertheimer said. “Elvis was almost laser-focused on whatever he did.
