Jack Cardiff

Cinematographer Jack Cardiff, right, looks through the lens as director Michael Powell sets up a shot. Powell, who worked with Cardiff on "The Red Shoes" and "Black Narcissus," called Cardiff "the greatest color cameraman in the world." In a nearly 90-year career in cinema, Cardiff worked with directors such as Alfred Hitchcock and King Vidor, and stars such as Humphrey Bogart and Ava Gardner.
