Gov. Jerry Brown plans to head north for final rally

Gov. Jerry Brown is heading to Colusa County on Saturday for what is being billed as his last campaign rally of the year.

He also will be pitching Proposition 1, the water bond proposal, and Proposition 2, the plan for a rainy-day fund.

The governor has made only a handful of campaign appearances this year -- both ballot measures have leads in the polls and Brown is widely expected to trounce his Republican opponent, Neel Kashkari, on Election Day.

The rally will be held in Williams, 60 miles north of Sacramento and close to where Brown’s family owns a ranch.

At a campaign event on Wednesday, Brown said he would focus much of his fourth term on advancing and refining initiatives already underway. That includes a new formula for funding public schools, bullet train construction in the Central Valley and managing the state’s finances.

“You need an experienced leader to roll up his sleeves and work through the complexity that has already been generated by today’s laws, and make them work harmoniously, and when they don’t work, make changes,” Brown said.

Brown is scheduled to cast his own ballot on Thursday morning in Oakland.
