Poll: More than half of state voters give Jerry Brown high marks
Most California voters say they approve of the job Jerry Brown is doing as governor, while a plurality of state voters say they are inclined to support his reelection, according to a new Field Poll.
Brown’s approval rating, which stands at 51%, is down slightly from a February high of 57%, according to the survey. But the marks are still higher than any Brown received during the first two years of his term.
Democrats overwhelmingly give the governor high marks, with 68% saying he is doing a good job during his third term. Brown’s numbers are also strong among independent voters, with 54% saying they approve of his job performance. Just 29% of independent voters disapprove.
Among Republicans, 23% gave Brown positive marks, with 61% saying they disapprove of the job he is doing as governor.
A plurality of voters surveyed said they were likely to support Brown if he runs for reelection in 2014 by a 43%-38% margin against an unnamed opponent.
