National Park Service biologist Amanda J. Stein, hikes toward Hogback Ridge, in the Delaware Water Gap National Recreational Area in Middle Smith Field Township, Monroe County on Wednesday, September 19, 2012. At Hogback, a proposal would widen the right-of-way to 150 feet for transmission lines. PPL Corp. and PSEG of New Jersey will, at the end of this month, have won approval to build the controversial Susquehanna-Roseland 500k transmission line through the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area ¿ the closest thing to a national park anywhere near the Lehigh Valley. The transmission line was officially proposed in 2007.
