The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation announced work will begin Monday, March 18, to replace the structurally deficient Five Points Richmond Road bridge over Oughoughton Creek in Washington Township, Northampton County.
The contractor will replace the existing steel I-beam bridge with a spread box beam bridge.
Starting March 18, Five Points Richmond Road will be closed and detoured between PA 611 and Richmond Road. The posted detour will route traffic on PA 611 and PA 512. Motorists are advised to allow for extra time and use caution when traveling through the area.
The project is expected to be complete in October 2013. All schedules are weather dependent.
