Mike Stanton was out of the lineup for the second straight game Sunday, as he has been sidelined with blurred vision in his right eye.
"I have never had something like this," Stanton said. "I am not helping the team. If anything I am hurting them by the way I am playing."
Stanton is the Marlins prime power hitter, and leads the team in home runs with 16. He was 2-for-19 in his last five games before being scratched from Saturday's lineup.
Stanton said the problems began when he had pink-eye on the Marlins trip to California and Arizona in May, and has not improved.
"We have tried four or five different combinations of drops. I have pushed through it long enough. We have waited it out and there is no progress," Stanton said.
Stanton said he will see an eye specialist Monday when the team is back in South Florida after returning from their three-game series against the Rays in St. Petersburg.
