Love the Food Network? Can't get enough cake? Just plain competitive? Finally! Something for you: The Cake Race, a traveling cake-decorating challenge hosted by Food Network, will take place at the Taste on Sunday July 2 from noon to 3 p.m.
The batter battle will highlight the skills of three local pastry chefs. Lori Parrett from Cakewalk Chicago , Orlando Serrano from Roeser's Bakery and Diane Ahrens from Piece-A-Cake Bakery will vie for a spot in an upcoming episode of Food Network Challenge. The winner will go on to compete against the victor from Indianapolis and Detroit on live TV.
If the cake decorating doesn't fill your desire for food-flinging competition, stop by the Food Network Challenge Bar, open from 11 a.m.-6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. A bartender flair competition gives you a chance to shake your stuff against pros and even a few local celebs. Future food stars can shoot short videos and video postcards of themselves to e-mail to family and friends at interactive kiosks, too
The Food Network Challenge Village is located at the southwest corner of Buckingham Fountain Plaza, east of Columbus Drive.
