Moronic siblings John (Will Arnett) and Dean (writer Will Forte of "Saturday Night Live") try to father a child so they can honor their dad's dying wish for a grandchild. Since no sensible woman will touch them, the Solomons pay a surrogate (Kristen Wiig) to do the job.
Big question: Can Arnett ("Blades of Glory," "Let's Go to Prison") finally prove he's more than the role that made him famous, Gob on "Arrested Development"?
Skip it: Too stupid to know how to mean well, the Solomons are just a pair of creepy idiots who wouldn't stand a chance on "Are You Smarter than a 5th Grader." They're often quite funny and full of dimwitted optimism, but there's only so many times you can see John make uncomfortably suggestive comments to his gorgeous neighbor (Malin Akerman) before you want him to get a face full of pepper spray.
Catch it: If you're attracted to guys who wear shorts with sport jackets, won homecoming king while being home-schooled in the North Pole, ask an adoption agency about their return policy and say their ideal mate just has to be "female." Can you believe they're struggling to find a date?!
Bottom line: Not really as bad as it looks, "The Brothers Solomon" is a little like "Knocked Up," if "Knocked Up" were knocked up by "Hot Rod" and delivered by "Dumb and Dumber."
Bonus: Expecting parents may want to pay attention to the brothers' brilliant technique of filling a doll's diapers with quarters and chicken fingers so they'll be excited to change a real diaper when the time comes. Makes sense to us!
