Four days a week through Sept. 2, Chicago's SummerDance offers an hour of free dance lessons, followed by two hours of free music in Grant Park's Spirit of Music Garden, 601 S. Michigan Ave., between Harrison Street and Balbo Drive.
Dance lessons are from 6 to 7 p.m. Thursdays through Saturdays, and 2 to 3 p.m. Sundays. Instruction is followed by music and dancing from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. Thursdays through Saturdays, and 3 to 5 p.m. Sundays. Dance and music styles range from swing to stepping, cumbia to Creole, rumba to Romanian.
SummerDance for Kids offers one-hour ethnic dance lessons for children ages 5 and older beginning at 3 p.m. Saturdays.
