Two movies open today without holding advance screenings for media: "The Invisible" and "Kickin' It Old Skool." Reviews for both titles will be posted later today.
With the studios behind those films declining to hold screenings and negative reviews already coming in for the week's other wide releases, "The Condemned" and "Next," it appears that the last week of April is a box office dumping ground.
Could that have anything to do with a certain wildly successful comicbook franchise returning to theaters next week (hint: it involves an arachnid-bitten superhero)? Anything that opens this week will only have seven days before that behemoth hits theaters…
Just call it a hunch.Copyright © 2014, Los Angeles Times
