Teen accused in Pennsylvania school stabbing sought ‘to kill more,’ police say

A 16-year-old boy refused to drop the knives he was using in a slashing attack at a Pennsylvania school and told a school official that he had “more people to kill,” according to a police affidavit released Friday.

Alex Hribal was arraigned Friday on 21 counts of attempted homicide and 21 counts of aggravated assault in the April 9 attack at Franklin Regional High School in Murrysville, Pa., about 20 miles from Pittsburgh. Hribal, who remains in custody, was originally charged with four counts of attempted homicide and 21 counts of aggravated assault.

Hribal is accused of stabbing or slashing 20 students and a security guard before classes started. Two students remain hospitalized.

As part of the latest proceedings, officials filed a probable cause affidavit that gave new details on the attack.

According to the affidavit, Vice Principal Sam King saw panicked students running and saw the security guard and a boy holding a knife in each hand. Both individuals had blood on them, King told police.

King said he grabbed the boy from behind and took him to the floor. Hribal refused to drop the 8-inch kitchen knives he had brought from home.

“No, I am not dropping them, my work is not done, I have more people to kill,” Hribal is quoted in the affidavit written by Murrysville Police Sgt. Charles Tappe and Westmoreland County Detective Robert W. Weaver.

Officials searched Hribal’s school locker and found a document, dated April 6, and signed by the defendant.

“I can’t wait to see the priceless and helpless looks on the faces of the students of one of the ‘best schools in Pennsylvania’ realize their precious lives are going to be taken by the only one among them that isn’t a plebeian,” the affidavit quotes the document.
