A middle school student in Waltham, Mass., allegedly prepared a list of students whom he wanted to kill for making fun of him, according to local media reports.

The student is currently not in the school, John F. Kennedy Middle School, Waltham Mayor Jeannette McCarthy told boston.com on Tuesday. She said she was confident that all students were safe.

“I wouldn’t feel hesitant to send [children] to that school,” she told the website. “We had a response, it was an immediate response, and I believe the superintendent followed up with it swiftly.”

Several media outlets reported that school officials sent a letter home to parents explaining the incident on Friday. A teacher noticed the list on a student’s desk titled “Students who make fun of me,” followed by three names.

When the teacher asked about the names, the student allegedly answered, “This is my kill list,” according to the letter sent from principal Jack Cawley.

The student and the three named on the list are receiving support and services, Cawley noted.

School officials were not commenting on Tuesday.
