Justin Bieber was arrested in Miami Beach, Fla., on Wednesday night after a drag race (55 mph — what kind of drag race is that?), charged with drunk driving and resisting arrest.

Many #Beliebers are not happy.

A number of those among the pop star’s social media following took to social media Thursday to share their disappointment and sorrow for their seemingly troubled star.

It was this group of super social fans who helped Bieber become a social media sensation when he first showed up on YouTube, where he is now one of the top-watched people with 3.75 billion video plays. They followed him in droves on Facebook, where he boasts an impressive following of 57 million fans, and of course Beliebers helped him become one of the top 10 people followed on Twitter with more than 45 million faithful.

Social media has played a pivotal role in Bieber’s fame; it would play a role in a fall from grace too.

On Thursday morning, Justin Bieber was the topic of six of the top 10 trending hashtags in the United States on Twitter. Tags included #FreeBieber, #FreeJustinBieber, DUI and #DeportBieber. Twitter users expressed a range of emotions -- support as well as outright disappointment in the young star’s antics.
