Teacher scores: A Dec. 11 article in the LATExtra section reported that a preliminary study by education experts had found that teachers whose students said they “taught to the test” scored lower than average on value-added analysis. In fact, the study found that test preparation was positively correlated with a teacher’s value-added scores, but not as strongly as other indicators, such as effective classroom management or efficient use of class time.

“The Fighter”: An article about the film “The Fighter” in the Dec. 23 Sports section reported that boxer Micky Ward lost a fight to Alfonso Sanchez. In fact, Ward rallied to knock out Sanchez.

“Tron” filmmaker: An article about filmmaker Steven Lisberger in the Dec. 21 Calendar said that he directed no other feature films after “Tron” in 1982. In fact, he directed “Slipstream” in 1989 and “Hot Pursuit” in 1987.

Then and Now: In the Dec. 19 California section, the Then and Now column and an accompanying photo caption identified a passenger in an 1897 motorized coach ride through downtown Los Angeles as Boyle Workman. The passenger was William H. Workman, Boyle Workman’s father.

Museum gift guide: An article in the Dec. 22 Calendar section about gift suggestions from local museum shops identified Cim Castellon as assistant vice president of marketing at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art. Her title is assistant vice president of merchandising.

Favorite holiday films: An article in the Dec. 23 Calendar section in which film critics Betsy Sharkey and Kenneth Turan listed favorite holiday films cited the 1984 production of “A Christmas Carol,” with George C. Scott, as a PBS program. It was originally broadcast on CBS.

Paid promotions: The On the Media column in the Dec. 22 Calendar about the failure of TV shows to properly identify paid promotions said that one of the programs that hosted lifestyle “expert” Sean McEwen was “ San Diego This Morning” on XETV-TV San Diego 6. The name of the show was “San Diego Living.”
