Salcedo Memorial Highway: In the April 20 LATExtra section, a brief news item reported on the naming of a section of the 60 Freeway after a slain El Monte educator, Roberto “Bobby” Salcedo. The caption with an accompanying photo erred in saying Nicholas Salcedo, 2, was waving to a picture of his father. Bobby Salcedo was the boy’s uncle and godfather.

Social media: An April 18 article in Section A about the prominence of social media in modern political campaigns identified Bryan Merica as a Republican new-media consultant. Merica is a nonpartisan consultant.

LACMA acquisitions: An article in the April 19 Calendar section about artworks recently acquired by the Los Angeles County Museum of Art said a set of three Spanish “casta” paintings by Juan Patricio Morlete Ruiz had been purchased for $570,500. The price was $598,000.

Geithner outlook: An article in the April 20 Business section about Treasury Secretary Timothy F. Geithner’s efforts to calm financial markets carried a Washington dateline. The story was reported from Los Angeles.

Hand transplant: In the April 19 LATExtra section, a photo caption with an article about Emily Fennell, who had hand transplant surgery at Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center, said she spends eight hours a day in physical therapy. As the article noted, Fennell is receiving occupational therapy.

Boston Marathon: A photo caption in the April 19 Sports section said that Ryan Hall and Desiree Davila had set U.S. marathon records for men and women, respectively, in Monday’s Boston Marathon. However, the Boston course does not meet USA Track & Field’s standards for record times because it has a downhill drop and a layout that allows for a tailwind. Hall and Davila did set course records for U.S. runners.

Blake Griffin: In the April 19 Sports section, columnist Jerry Crowe said Blake Griffin would soon be announced as the NBA’s rookie of the year — a first for a Clipper. In fact, Griffin would be the first Los Angeles Clipper. Terry Cummings won the award after the 1982-83 season as a member of the San Diego Clippers.
