ADA—Cindy Van Andel died at age 57 on Friday after a brief illness.
Cynthia Lowe Van Andel was the wife of Amway Chairman Steve Van Andel. He issued the following statement concerning his wife's passing:
"I am saddened by the loss of my loving wife Cindy Van Andel. She passed away Friday evening after a brief illness. Cindy has been my friend, confidant and partner for almost 33 years of marriage. She was a warm and caring person who could light up an entire room just by her smile. Her heart went out to all she met and she will be greatly missed."
Besides her husband, Cindy Van Andel is survived by her brother, David Lowe; her brother-in-law, Dave Van Andel (wife Carol); her sister-in-laws, Nan Van Andel and Barb Gaby (husband Rick); and many nieces and nephews.
Cindy Van Andel was preceded in death by her parents, John and Doris Lowe, and her parents-in-law, Jay and Betty Van Andel.
Visitation is scheduled from 2 to 4 and from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Metcalf & Jonkhoff Funeral Home at 4291 Cascade Road SE in Grand Rapids. A Celebration of Life is scheduled for 1 p.m. Thursday at the Keystone Community Church at 655 Spaulding Avenue SE in Ada with a private burial following.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions in Cindy Van Andel's name be made to The Potter's House at 810 Van Raalte SW in Grand Rapids.
