This week you will notice a new look to the weather on FOX 17. Since early October, our weather department has been hard at work training on, and implementing a new weather graphics system, from WSI called TruVu MAX.
The TruVu MAX system is a Windows based, state-of-the-art, HD television weather graphics generator that renders in real-time. It is able to create dynamic, highly informative, and flexible weather presentations for on-air and on-line viewers.
We are very pleased to have this cutting edge technology at FOX 17. The increased capabilities of satellite, radar, computer model, and other meteorological data sets will allow us to thoroughly cover West Michigan weather at a hyper-local level, especially during winter storms and severe weather. The RPM (Rapid Processing Mesoscale Model) is at the center of WSI’s proprietary computer forecasting system that is exclusive to FOX 17 in the West Michigan television and multimedia market. We look forward to bringing you more of “the weather where you live.” Please feel free to share your thoughts and comments about our new weather look on fox17online.com and facebook.com/fox17online.
