Assemblymen Ben Hueso, D-San Diego, and V. Manuel Pérez, D-Coachella, will hold a state oversight hearing on current efforts and future opportunities to restore the Salton Sea.

The hearing is scheduled for Feb. 22 at the North Shore Community Center in Mecca. It will consist of three panel discussions.

The first panel discussion will include state and federal agency representatives from the California Natural Resources Agency, Department of Fish and Wildlife, and the California Department of Water Resources.

The second panel discussion will focus on air quality issues with representatives from the South Coast Air Quality Management District, Imperial County Air Pollution Control District, San Diego Center for Algae Biotechnology, UCSD, and the Center for Energy Efficiency and Renewable Technologies.

The third panel discussion will have speakers from the Salton Sea Authority, Riverside County’s Economic Development Agency, Imperial Irrigation District, Coachella Valley Water District and Defenders of Wildlife.
