The city is set for a treat of music and fireworks Friday evening during the annual El Centro Music Festival and Fireworks Show.
This will be the sixth annual festival of what has become one of the biggest events held in April in the Valley. The city held its first Music Festival and Fireworks Show in celebration of its 100th anniversary and now, five year later, the event draws as many as 5,000 people.
Stark Field will be the venue where four bands will rock the city with a variety of music that includes Latin, reggae and top 40s in what will surely be a musical mix of joy for young and old alike.
The event starts at 5 p.m. with the band Downtime. La Cachimba and Opus will follow, warming up the attendees for the headlining Shades of Blue.
Fireworks will light up the sky at the end of the event, said Parks and Recreation Director Kristie Riester, who noted there will also be different food vendors, beers for the grown-ups, and a kids’ corner for the children.
“It’ll be fun,” said Riester adding people can take lawn chairs if they want.
