The King County Council approved money that will help the Green River Valley brace for flooding.

More than 34-million dollars will go to increase capacity at critical levees--as well as to protect key facilities that are in jeopardy such as the Norm Maleng Justice Center in Kent.

The Army Corps of Engineers warns the Howard Hanson Dam isn't strong enough to hold back potentially heavy rains this winter--and engineers will likely have to release water that will flood the Green River Valley downstream.
