The state of Washington suspended the license of a naturopathic doctor who allegedly violated the state's medical marijuana law.
According to the Bellingham Herald, Yuel Luncheon Boyce, who has practices in Whatcom and King counties, authorized the use of medical marijuana for three undercover Bellingham police officers. Boyce reportedly asked for a cash-only payment in exchange for the authorization, and didn't determine whether the three were qualified to purchase medical marijuana.
After Boyce authorized the officers for medical marijuana use, he allegedly gave them peanut butter cups containing marijuana. State law prohibits the distribution of marijuana in the same place it is authorized.
Boyce has 20 days to ask for a hearing before the Washington Board of Naturopathy, the Herald said.
