AUSTIN—
A federal jury has ordered boat manufacturer Brunswick Corp. to pay $3.8 million to a man who lost part of his leg after it was caught in a propeller on Lake Austin.Jacob Brochtrup was 18 when he was injured while wakeboarding with friends celebrating July 4th in 2007.
In a statement, Brunswick officials said they are sympathetic to Brochtrup but "stand behind our products, which are used safely and properly by boaters around the world."
The company said it would consider whether to appeal.
