SAN DIMAS, Calif. - Three Escondido women were killed and four other people were injured Saturday in a jet ski accident at Puddingstone Reservoir in San Dimas, fire officials said.
Los Angeles County Fire officials confirmed a report of a collision between a Sea Doo and a small motorboat around 4:20 p.m. at Frank G. Bonelli Regional Park in the 100 block of Via Verde.
Aurora Cadiz Yeso, 53, Anesia Bautista, 47, and Mari-con Abello, 34, all from Escondido, were riding the personal watercraft, Fox 5's sister station KTLA reported. All three were declared dead at the scene.
Three men aged 22, 35 and 36 aboard the boat were injured.
Another woman, a 22-year-old, was thrown from the boat and received non-life threatening injuries.
Investigators said the Sea Doo and the 20-foot powerboat collided as they were making a turn in the lake. According to the City of San Dimas' website, there is no speed limit at the lake and vessels are supposed to stay at least 25 feet apart.
"At this point, there's nothing to indicate there was alcohol involved, but that could change later," Los Angeles County Chief Lifeguard Hugo Maldonado said.
