SANTEE, Calif. -- The brother of a 41-year-old Santee man who was fatally shot in the head at an East County home was arrested on suspicion of murder, authorities said Monday.
Anthony Tesch was pronounced dead at 9:30 a.m. Sunday at a San Diego hospital, the San Diego County Medical Examiner's Office reported.
The suspect in Friday's shooting, 36-year-old Joseph Todd Hall, was taken into custody Sunday night by the San Diego Regional Fugitive Task Force and booked for murder at the Central Jail, sheriff's Lt. Larry Nesbit said.
Deputies learned during the investigation that the victim and suspect are brothers, Nesbit said.
According to the Sheriff's Department, deputies were sent to the 10000 block of Prospect Avenue around 5:10 a.m. Friday and found Tesch suffering from a gunshot wound. He was airlifted to Sharp Memorial Hospital and placed on life support.
According to broadcast reports, the victim's sister told investigators she was showering at the time of the shooting, then found the victim. Her adult son told detectives he had been sleeping and awoke to his mother's screams.
Nesbit said Hall was arrested on Riverford Road in Lakeside.
