Scott Peterson, the man convicted of killing Laci Peterson is moving forward with an appeal of his murder conviction, according to a family blog.
Peterson's family, Solana Beach residents, said it still needs $95,000 to help cover the costs of the investigation and wants the public to help.
"Your help today will bring us one step closer to getting Scott granted a new trial and finding justice for Laci and Conner," an entry on Scottpetersonappeal.org said.
The family also said that it has hired attorneys Cliff Gardner and Larry Gibbs and can move forward with their petition.
A jury found Scott Peterson guilty in 2003 of killing his wife and her fetus and dumping the body in San Francisco Bay on Christmas Eve, 2002. Peterson was arrested in a parking lot at Torrey Pines Golf Course.
He was sentenced to death and is being held in San Quentin State Prison.
