Kansas State will head to Arizona in early January to face No. 4 ranked Oregon in the 42nd annual Fiesta Bowl. Both teams finished the season 11-1.
K-State finished No. 5 in the final Bowl Championship Series standings released late Sunday.
The Wildcats won a share of the Big 12 Championship with Sunday's win over Texas. Oklahoma is the Big 12 co-champion but because the Wildcats beat the Sooners earlier in the season, they'll receive the Big 12's automatic BCS bid.
Oregon has a Heisman Trophy contender in running back Kenjon Barner and one of the nation's most dynamic offenses. K-State has a Heisman hopeful of its own in quarterback Collin Klein and a stingy defense.
The Fiesta Bowl is Jan. 3 at the University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale, home of the NFL's Arizona Cardinals. Kickoff is at 7:30pm Central Time. The game will be shown on ESPN.
This is the Wildcats first trip to a Bowl Championship Series bowl since the 2004 Fiesta Bowl. Kansas State lost that game to Ohio State 35 to 28. Kansas State played in the Fiesta Bowl once before, defeating Syracuse 35 to 18 in 1997.
