Mike Trout bobblehead is an example of art imitating life

To commemorate Angels center fielder Mike Trout’s 2014 American League most-valuable-player award, a life-size bobblehead of Trout, standing 6 feet 2, will be unveiled in the Music Garden/Trout Farm area outside Angel Stadium at about 5 p.m. on Friday.

Trout, who turns 24 on Aug. 7, will take a few minutes out of his preparation for Friday night’s game against the Texas Rangers to attend the ceremony, but he was stumped on Tuesday when asked if the bobblehead, like the sturdy and stocky Trout, weighs 235 pounds.

Trout wasn’t sure how to respond when Eric Kay, the Angels communication director, interjected, “It’s thick,” eliciting laughs from the reporters at Trout’s locker before Tuesday’s game against the Minnesota Twins.

“Thanks, E.K.,” Trout said, before adding, “I can’t wait to see it. I think it’s pretty cool.”
