Motorcyclist dies on Sunset Boulevard
The afternoon accident closes a stretch of the street in Brentwood during the rush hour.
A key stretch of Sunset Boulevard in Brentwood was closed for five hours -- and throughout the evening rush hour -- Thursday because of a fatal motorcycle accident, according to the LAPD.
The street was closed between Barrington Avenue and the 405 Freeway, said Brian Humphrey, a spokesman for the Los Angeles Fire Department. The accident occurred when a motorcycle collided with a truck in the 11500 block of Sunset. The rider was pinned under the truck's wheels and pronounced dead at the scene, Humphrey said.
The motorcyclist was identified only as a 40-year-old man from Santa Monica.
