HAGERSTOWN —A former Hagerstown man wanted in a 2011 armed robbery was arrested this week on drug charges by the Washington County Narcotics Task Force, according to District Court records.
Dwight Orin Lewis Jr., 35, whose address was listed as 5708 Montgomery Church Road, Greencastle, Pa., was charged Tuesday with possession with intent to distribute marijuana and Diazepam, criminal conspiracy to distribute and possession, court records said.
Lewis also was wanted on armed robbery charges in an incident on Sept. 28, 2011, in the 12000 block of Pine Hill Drive, according to an application for statement of charges filed by the Washington County Sheriff’s Office.
In that incident, deputies were dispatched to a report of shots fired, the charging document said.
Deputies found Frederick Sheldon Cade III, 41, who told them he had been robbed at gunpoint and beaten with a baseball bat by two men.
Cade told investigators he was going to a residence on Pine Hill Drive to meet his girlfriend when he was attacked by the men, one armed with a rifle and the other with a bat, the charging document said. They demanded pills and money and stole about 90 Percocet tablets and $12, the document said.
Cade said he did not believe the rifle was fired, but a tire of his vehicle was flattened and a window smashed by the assailants before the fled, charging documents said.
Lewis was arrested Tuesday when agents stopped a vehicle after the driver, Atwina Charlton, 38, also of 5708 Montgomery Church Road, Greencastle, allegedly sold drugs to a confidential informant, the charging document in that case said. Agents found marijuana and Diazepam on Lewis, the document alleged.
Charlton was released on bond Wednesday, court records said.
Lewis was being held on $500,000 bond on the robbery charge, $75,000 on the drug charges and lesser amounts on other outstanding warrants, court records said.
