Fashion-savvy men soon will have a retail clothing store just for them at Valley Mall.
Men’s Wearhouse, a chain that specializes in tailored men’s clothing, is preparing to open at the mall, said Michele Wills, the mall’s marketing director.
Although there are stores at the mall that sell men’s clothing, Men’s Wearhouse will be the first store there that is specifically for men.
According to the Men’s Wearhouse corporate website, the Valley Mall store will carry a retail line of men’s clothing, and will provide tuxedo rental and tailoring.
Wills said she has known about plans for the store for about six months, when the lease was executed. Construction began last week, but outside construction has been going on since earlier this year.
The store will have exterior and interior entrances, and will be across from Garfield’s Restaurant and Pub.
The space previously was occupied by media store F.Y.E., Wills said.
Although there is no official opening date, Wills said the construction and move-in process should be finished by the end of the summer.
Wills said she has received positive feedback from mall visitors.
Along with Men’s Wearhouse, there are at least four other stores with signed leases, Wills said.
“The mall is going through a remerchandising processes, which is really exciting,” Wills said. “There may be more stores coming, but we don’t have any signed leases yet.”
Between corporate and specialty leasing, Wills said open spaces are filled quickly, sometimes temporarily.
“If there are any empty spaces, they won’t be empty for long,” she said.
Other stores scheduled to open soon include Body Central, Olde Line Tattoo Gallery, Tobacco Den and Premier Realty.
“There are always things you want at the mall, but at this point, we pretty much have everything covered,” Wills said. “It’s a diverse shopping experience for people coming to the mall. There’s pretty much anything anybody would want.”
