Two occupants of a car that hit a tree in the the 20400 block of Benevola Church Road in Boonsboro were flown to the R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore on Friday night, according to the First Hose Company of Boonsboro and the Washington County Sheriff's Office.
The accident was reported at 7:48 p.m., according to a sheriff's office press release.
A 1991 Honda CRX was traveling westbound on Benevola Church Road when the operator lost control and a vehicle struck a tree, the release said.
Both the driver and passenger are 17-year-old males from Washington County, the sheriff's office said.
The occupants were trapped in the vehicle and had to be extricated, said Deputy Chief Keith Abrecht of the First Hose Company.
“They had extensive injuries but they are expected to survive,” Abrecht said.
The operator was listed in serious but stable condition, according to the news release issued at about 11:30 p.m. Friday. The passenger was listed in critical condition, the release said.
