An airplane drops fire retardant Thursday afternoon in the Angeles National Forest in a view from Foothill Boulevard in La Cresenta. With temperatures hovering near 100 degrees, firefighters are trying to contain flames racing through dry brush in the forest north of the foothill community of La Canada Flintridge.
