A math teacher at Brea Olinda High School has been arrested on suspicion of having sex with a student, Brea Police Department officials said Friday.

The boy, whose name and age were not released, told police the alleged sexual encounters occurred more than once, Sgt. Jim Griffin said.

Michele Lynn Johnson, 45, of Anaheim was booked on suspicion of having sexual intercourse with a minor and released Wednesday after posting the $20,000 bail, officials said.

The student’s father first notified police about the alleged incidents, and Johnson was arrested Wednesday, they said.

Johnson has been placed on paid administrative leave, pending charges, said Brea Olinda Unified School District Supt. Skip Roland. If charges are processed, Johnson will be placed on unpaid administrative leave, he said.

“Our goal is to provide a safe and secure environment for all students and all staff,” Roland said. “When there is something that would potentially impact that prime directive, then we take action.”

About 1,900 students attend Brea Olinda High School, Roland said.
