The Metropolitan Transportation Authority on Wednesday broke ground on a $223-million project to extend the Orange Line busway by four miles from Warner Center to the Chatsworth Metrolink station. The work is expected to provide about 3,000 jobs and be completed by mid-2012.

The Orange Line now runs 14 miles from Lankershim Boulevard in North Hollywood to Warner Center and has about 22,000 boardings daily.
