Bus service between Union Station and LAX expanded

The city of Los Angeles is expanding weekday morning bus service between Union Station and Los Angeles International Airport to meet growing demand.

LAX FlyAway buses will make an additional 13 weekday morning pickups from Union Station’s Patsaouras Transit Plaza Bus Stop 9, according to a statement released by Treva Miller, a spokeswoman for Los Angeles World Airports, the city agency that runs LAX.

Buses currently depart Union Station on weekdays every half-hour from 10 a.m. to 1 a.m. and every hour from 1 a.m. to 5 a.m.

Added pickups as of today will be at 5, 5:30, 5:50, 6:30, 6:45, 7:10, 7:30, 7:50, 8:10, 8:30, 8:50, 9:10 and 9:30 a.m., according to the statement.

Weekend departures remain on the hour and half-hour from 5 a.m. to 1 a.m.; every hour on the hour from 1 a.m. to 5 a.m.

Buses will continue to depart from LAX every hour and half hour from 5 a.m. to 1 a.m. and every hour from 1 a.m. to 5 a.m. daily. From January through June, the buses had carried 191,509 passengers from Union Station to LAX, about 30% more than the same period last year, the statement said. FlyAway bus lines in Van Nuys and Westwood also saw increased demand, with all three lines serving 714,026 passengers during the first six months of the year, 23% more than the same period last year, the statement said.

A one-way FlyAway ride costs $4 for adults and $2 for children 2 to 12 years old; children under 2 ride free. Bus schedules and parking information are posted at www.lawa.org/flyaway.
