Woman killed by bus in Westlake area
A woman was struck and killed by a charter bus while she was crossing the street this morning in the Westlake area, police said.
The woman, who was in her 30s, entered a crosswalk at Wilshire Boulevard and New Hampshire Avenue about 8 a.m. and was hit by the yellow bus, which resembled a school bus, said Richard French, spokesman for the Los Angeles Police Department. The bus was eastbound on Wilshire, attempting to turn north onto New Hampshire, French said.
No one else was injured, and police are still investigating what caused the crash, French said.
Investigators this morning had not released the name of the woman, the bus driver or the bus company, French said.
